The real change surges the horse racing industry in the country.
For the first time in history, horseowners got a big boost from the government to reinforce the backbone of local races in their year round competitions and augment their horses from maintenance to actual competitions.
According to Philippine Racing Commission Chairman Andrew Sanchez,the government racing agency will subsidize race festivals and stakes races calendared in 2017 which is very favorable for horseowners that will give big positive effect to the racing industry as a whole.
“It’s a big boost for the indiustry by the present administration. For the first time. horseowners were subsidized by the government, I was able to convince the DBM to add a certain portion for horseowners only,” said Sanchez during the formal signing of the Resolution No.66-16 Series of 2916 -P20 million for the 2017 race programs.
The event coincided with the awarding of plaque of appreciations by Philracom to horseowners Amb. Eduardo Cojuangco,Jr .,lone Asian awardee by the Australian Racing Hall of Fame for the successful victory of his horse Prized Icon Victoria Derby in Flemington Recourse in Melbourne, Australia last October held yesterday at the Hotel Sofitel in Pasay City.
Other Philracom awardees were given to Don Juan Stable for the double victories of it’s horses’ Proud Pinoy and ‘Pusong Pinoy in Singapore last September and November 2016 respectively.
