PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte yesterday slammed Sen. Leila De Lima for being “glorified with an award in Washington D. C.”, even as he tagged former Iligan City Rep. Vicente Belmonte and former Mayor Lawrence Cruz as included in his narco-list.
Duterte made the disclosure during the 2016 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas (PAFIOO) at the Rizal Hall in Malacañang yesterday.
He also named a certain Mayor Willy Lim as on the list even as he mentioned again retired police general and now Daanbantayan, Cebu Mayor Vicente Loot in his discussion of personalities allegedly involved in the drug trade.
Duterte made the remark as he showed the thick documents listing alleged drug personalities in the country.
“This is the drug industry. That is why I gave a copy to the Speaker and to the Senate and I said hindi ko kaya (I cannot do it). I cannot do it on my own,” the President said.
“Mayors, governors, police, barangay captains...we are a narco politics state,” he added, saying it was the reason he was against a barangay election this year.
Duterte admitted he cried at night owing to the serious drug problem in the country, stressing that he will lose his time and even his bullets in dealing with the drug menace such that he showed the thick narco list to the Senate President Koko Pimentel and Speaker Pantaleon Bebot Alvarez.
“Hindi ko kaya ito,” Duterte had told the lawmakers. EMontano
