THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office 11 destroyed P10.6 million worth of dangerous drugs in Mankilam, Tagum City, Davao del Norte, on Nov. 18, 2016.
Destroyed were a total of 850.60 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, popularly known as shabu, and 8,035.50 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of P10,689,330.
The burning and destruction ceremony of the seized illegal drugs were witnessed by PDEA RO11 Assistant Regional Director Joel B. Plaza, together with Gov. Antonio Rafael del Rosario, of Davao del Norte; Judge Dorothy P. Montejo-Gonzaga, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court, Branch 30, Tagum City; Atty. Sharon Rose F. Saracin, Assistant City Prosecutor of Tagum City; and representatives from the Department of Justice (DOJ), civil society group and the media.
He also commended the provincial government of Davao del Norte, Davao del Norte Provincial Police Office, media and the community for their untiring support in the fight against illegal drugs.
“We want the public to witness the destruction of dangerous drugs seized by drug enforcement officers in order to allay public apprehensions that these illicit substances are being reused, recycled or sold back in the streets,” said PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña.
