AN active policeman was arrested along with a woman even as a suspected drug pusher was killed during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Manila Police District (MPD)-Station 8 in Sta. Mesa, Manila, early yesterday morning.
The fatality was identified through his alias as ‘Kulot’, of 2026 Anonas St., Sta. Mesa, and said to be on the drug watchlist of the police station.
Nabbed were PO3 Julius Payoyo, 54, assigned at the Mandaluyong City Police Community Precinct (PCP) 2; and Maribel Resuello, 39, a midwife, both of 2026 Anonas Street.
Investigation by Supt. Olivia Sagaysay, station commander of the MPD-Station 8, said the incident took place at 12:10 a.m. during a buy-bust operation conducted by operatives of the Station Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Unit (SAIDSOTU) of MPD-Station 8.
The transaction was being made when ‘Kulot’ reportedly noticed that the buyer was a cop, so he allegedly drew a gun and fired. The poseur-buyer was able to flee and did not get hit, police reported.
The said cop’s back-up then fired at the suspect, killing him instantly.
Confiscated from the said house were four plastic sachets of shabu, P300 buy-bust money, a cal .38 revolver, a PNP-issued Glock 17 pistol with serial no. PNP 05689 and a magazine loaded with 16 bullets.
The arrested cop and the midwife have been charged accordingly.
