THE Philippine Sports Commission unanimously approved the grant of cash incentives to the Philippine Dragonboat team that reigned supreme in three divisions of the 2016 ICF World Dragonboat Championship held in Moscow, Russia last Sept.5-12.
In Resolution 1041-2016 issued by Julia Llanto-PSC Board Secretary IV and signed by PSC chairman William Ramirez and commissioners Ramon Fernandez, Charles Maxey, Arnold Agustin and Celia Kiram last Oct. 18, the PSC approved the amount of P50,000 each to all athletes,coaches, drummers and steermen of the Philippine Canoe Kayak Federation Dragonboat (PCKDF) for their “successful participation in the prestigious world competition recognized by the International Olympic Committeerecognized governing body, International Canoe Federation.
The winning Filipino paddlers also recognized by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) brought home three golds, one silver and two bronzes in the event held in Russia.
“Our heartfelt thanks to the officials of the PSC, led by chairman Ramirez, for recognizing the heroic efforts of our athletes to bring home the bacon despite tremendous odds in Russia,” said PCKDF president Jonee Go.
Handled by national coach Len Escollante and deputy coach Diomedes Manalo, the Philippine team is composed of Hermie Macaranas, Oliver Manaig,Alex, Generalo, Fernan Dungan,Frank Feliciano, Roger Masbate,Kim Gabriel Borromeo, Lester delos Santos, Christian Urso,Jerome Solis,Reymart Nevado, Ojay Fuentes,Jerome de Guia, John Paul Gelencio, Daniel Ortega, Lee Robin Santos, Glaiza Liwag, Apple Jane Abitona,Sheryl Caang, Rhea Roa, Raquel Almencion, Ella Niuda, Sheila Angela Abanilla, Rosalyn Esguerra, Rossel Burgos, Maribeth Carranto, Norwell Cajes and Patricia Anne Bustamante
