AN 83-year-old woman lost P5 million in cash when her ward, who happens to be gay and whom she reportedly treated as her own son, allegedly withdrew all her money from the bank without her knowing.
Victim Norma Guatno, of 2224 Alejo Aquino St., Malate, Manila, identified the suspect as Ramon Concepcion Jr., 36, of 2125 Consuelo Taal St., Singalong, Malate, Manila, as she filed a complaint against him before the Manila Police District (MPD), accompanied by her niece Carmela Espiritu.
Espiritu told police that the victim discovered the loss of her money and even jewelry only last month, when she asked her two banks for a statement and found out that all her money had been wiped out.
According to Espiritu, the victim had been taking care of the suspect’s material needs and even sent him to school. The suspect reportedly got access to the victim’s ATM cards when she began allowing him to withdraw in her behalf.
It was learned that the suspect stays in a separate home and only visits the victim to inject her insulin, since she suffers from diabetes.
The suspect is now facing a case of qualified theft before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office.
