3 ASG bombers collared

POLICE prevented what could have been another deadly bombing with the arrest of three suspected bombers of Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) the other day in Zamboanga City.

The suspects were identified as Abdel dela Cruz, charged with murder; Jabar Sampang Ignohasimg, 24, and Abdulla Bakil Yusup, 27, both ASG members under Jolo-based Commander Alhapsi Misaya involved in the series of kidnapping and bombing incidents in Zamboanga City and other neighboring provinces.
The suspects were arrested at 2:45  p.m. inside the Atilano Pension House in Bgy. Canelar, Zamboanga City.
Combined elements of the Intelligence Branch of Zamboanga City Police Office, Anti-Kidnapping Group and Task Force Zamboanga conducted police operation and served a warrant of arrest against Dela Cruz who yielded a cal. .45 Armscor with five rounds of ammunition and three magazines loaded with five rounds of ammunition.
During the arrest, two of Dela Cruz’s companions ran away. The policemen gave chase and arrested the suspects who were found in possessions of a bag, three hand grenades, detonating cord, time fuse, two non-electric blasting caps and sling bag containing a hand grenade.
The report said the suspects were tasked to create havoc during the celebration of Fiesta Pilar by hurling grenades along RT Lim Boulevard, Zamboanga City and allegedly planning to abduct a Chinese businessman in Pasonanca.
The three suspects arrived on the morning of Oct. 3, 2016 at Zamboanga City on board a passenger vessel “Katrina” and checked in at Salwa Hotel and Atilano’s Pension House.
The report added that the suspects were tracked down by policemen at Salwa Hotel so they transferred to Atilano’s Pension House where they were arrested.
The suspects were brought to Zamboanga City Police Station for proper disposition.
