ARREST me now, Mr. President.

Sen. Leila de Lima threw this challenge to President Rodrigo Duterte urging him to arrest her as she rejected suggestions from friends for her to seek political “asylum” overseas.

“I’m not going to leave this country and escape anything because there is nothing to escape from! Why should I do that?” she said in press conference.

“I want to fight here in my country!

De Lima said she could no longer take the harassment she was getting from Malacanang. “Tama na. Hulihin niyo na ako ngayon! Yun naman talaga ang gusto niyo! Ikulong niyo na ako ngayon! I’m here! Do what you want to me, Mr. President. I’ll wait for you.”

She also deplored the supposed insinuation made by House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez concerning the alleged “riot” at the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP) involving some convicted drug lords.

“We just saw a news item quoting Speaker Alvarez saying somebody must be out to silence (Jaybee) Sebastian.

And they call themselves men? Ganyan ba mga lalaki?” she asked.

De Lima added:”They’re cowards, they’re false, and they’re liars! That is the bunch of officials that we have now. Yan, yang mga istorya na yan. I just saw yung mga ano rin, mga feed, saan yung kanina, ano na naman ito. ‘Peter Co, Tony Co and Vicente Sy were reportedly using shabu inside the cell of Peter Co.”

“Inmate Edgar Cinco witnessed the three using drugs and reported them to Dongail.’ Clarence Dongail, isa rin po yan sa Bilibid 19, another inmate who is a police major. ‘Dongail told them to stop and warned them of the consequences.’

Building 14 is supposed to be the most guarded facility now! Tama na po,” she said.
