FOR allegedly bringing a bullet and an accompanying magazine, a domestic flight passenger was held at the departure area of the NAIA Terminal 3 the other day. He was subsequently allowed to board his flight though.
It was learned that on Sept. 15, 2016, at around 1:25 p.m., passenger Gerry Borcelo, 47, of Caloocan City, was stopped at the said airport terminal as he was about to board Cebu Pacific Air Flight 5J629 bound for Dumaguete.
Information from the PNP-Aviation Security Unit said that while X-ray operator Elvira Lakay was performing her duty, she noticed at the monitor an image that resembled a gun magazine placed inside a black shoulder bag with markings “TECHNOPACK”.
As standard operating procedure, she immediately called the attention of the owner and upon acknowledging ownership of the bag, duty baggage inspector Efren Sumalde was summoned to conduct an inspection.
During the said inspection, found in the passenger’s bag were the said magazine and a bullet for cal. .45.
The said items were confiscated and the passenger was released and was able to board his flight as scheduled.
