THE Quezon City Police District (QCPD) is now closely monitoring showbiz personalities following the arrest of a half-brother of broadway artist/singer Lea Salonga last week and the killing of Maritoni Fernandez’ sister Sunday in Quezon City.
QCPD director Senior Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar however refused to divulge the names of showbiz personalities cum drug personalities but said they are strictly and closely monitoring them.
The QC police earlier nabbed Salonga’s half brother Philip Mendoza (Salonga) in a buy-bust where he yielded 14 pieces of party drugs ecstasy to a policeman who posed as a buyer.
During interrogation, Philip mentioned several names in the showbiz industry using ecstasy.
Eleazar said they are gathering more evidence and information and instructed QCPD-Special Operations Unit head Supt. Rogarth Campo to investigate and validate Philip’s information.
He called on showbiz personalities who are into illegal drugs to surrender under the PNP’s Oplan Tokhang and support President Duterte’s fight against the menace.
Meanwhile, the Southern Police District (SPD) yesterday confirmed that Aurora Moynihan, sister of actress Maritoni Fernandez, was indeed included in police drug watch list.
Senior Supt. Tomas Apolinario, Acting Director of Southern Police District (SPD), disclosed that Moynihan, 45, of No. 83 Ecology Village, Makati City, was arrested in February 28, 2013 together Joana and Henry Tinga, relatives of former Taguig Mayor Freddie Tinga, Crayon Ong, and eight others in a drug buy-bust conducted by operatives of Station Anti Illegal Drugs of Taguig police, in Sta Ana, Taguig City.
The records also showed that charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were filed against the suspects after police seized from them undetermined amount of shabu, marijuana, and ecstasy.
The same records further showed that Moynihan posted bail. Joana and Henry Tinga, on the other hand, are still detained in Taguig City Jail while Ong is in Pasay City Jail.
Insiders at the Pasay City Jail confirmed that Moynihan visited Ong only last month.
Moynihan was gunned down at 1:45 a.m. by still unidentified suspect on board a Toyota Fortuner at Temple Drive near the corner Giraffe St., Barangay Ugong Norte, Quezon City.
