A 37-year-old unemployed man was gunned down by an unidentified suspect while boarding his tricycle in Bgy. San Antonio, Sto. Tomas, Batangas, on Friday.
Town police chief Supt. Eduard Mallo identified the victim, who sustained gunshot wounds in the body, as Ronald Dapulang Castillo, married, of Bgy. San Antonio, Sto. Tomas.
A security guard of St. Frances Cabrini Hospital reported to Sto. Tomas Police Station the shooting incident at 3:30 p.m. A team led by SPO1 Walter Mercado immediately responded.
Investigator PO2 Emiliano L. Carandang said that at 3 p.m. Friday, the victim was about to board his tricycle (5835QD) in Bgy. San Antonio when the suspect approached and shot him several times at close range.
The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital by an attending physician, Dra. delos Reyes.
The suspect fled on board a red sedan vehicle with unknown plate number, police said.
A team from the Crime Laboratory Office 4A recovered at the crime scene six empty shells and two slugs for an unknown type of firearm.
Police said the victim was included into drug watchlist of said police station, said Mallo.
The body of the slain man now lies at Bayrante Funeral Homes.
