THREE drug suspects, including a barangay kagawad, were arrested in separate police operations in Bicol region and Laguna.
Two of the suspected members of a notorious drug trafficking gang in Bicol region were arrested by combined operatives of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Police Regional Office 5 during a raid in Buhi, Camarines Sur, last Friday, PNP-CIDG director Chief Supt. Roel B. Obusan said yesterday.
Suspects Ali Safra and Jeffrey Arcilla, both tagged as members of the Arcilla Drug Group operating in Camarines Sur, yielded a fragmentation grenade, 12 plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and assorted paraphernalia being used to repack the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ during the raid in their hideout in Sitio Cagmanok, Bgy. Sagrada, Buhi town, past 1 a.m. Friday, said Obusan.
CIDG Region 5 chief Senior Supt. Marlon Tejada said Safra is listed as the no. 2 most wanted drug personality in Buhi. Both suspects are now facing charges for illegal possession of drugs and explosive.
In Laguna, Barangay Councilman Paulino Arment, alias Poly, 58, of Bgy. Origuel, Majayjay, was arrested for possession of shabu by operatives of the Majayjay police during implementation of a search warrant Sunday night.
Acting Laguna police director Senior Supt. Joel Pernito said operatives, led by Senior Insp. Nelson Sardin, Majayjay police OIC, seized six heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu and a coin purse at 9 p.m.
The suspect was detained at the police lock-up cell, facing charges of violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
