TWO suspected drug pushers were killed in an encounter with Calamba police’s intel and warrant operatives during an anti-illegal drug operation Friday in Barangay Makiling, Calamba City.
Calamba police chief Supt. Fernando Ortega identified the slain suspects as Pedro Norada Jr. of Bgy. Makiling and Edgar Buendia of Bgy. San Rafael, Sto. Tomas, Batangas.
According to acting Laguna provincial director Senior Supt. Joel Pernito, the operatives, led by SPO4 Jose Tayactac, conducted a buy-bust operation and were implementing a search warrant which the two suspects resisted.
Both armed, Noprada and Buendia fired at the cops, who were forced to retaliate and kill the suspects.
Police recovered the suspects’ firearms -- a cal. .357 Magnum and a cal. .38 Smith and Wesson, P500, five sachets of suspected shabu and three plastic sachets of shabu.
According to Ortega, Noprada and Buendia only recently surrendered to Calamba and Sto. Tomas, police, respectively.
The police also bared that one of the suspects had been engaged in other illegal activities before getting involved in the illegal drug trade.
