A 35-YEAR-OLD cook stabbed to death his live-in partner out of jealousy before committing suicide using the same knife inside their house in Rosario, Cavite, last Sunday, a Cavite Police Provincial Office report said yesterday.
Still clutching a bloodied knife, suspect Marvin Legaspi and his live-in partner Janice Balistero, 30, were both rushed to Divine Grace Medical Center in General Trias City where both of them expired while undergoing treatment, said Cavite police director Senior Supt. Arthur Bisnar.
An investigation conducted by the Rosario Municipal Police Station showed that the couple and three friends, one of them identified as Gilbenia Yoldan, were having a drinking spree outside the suspect’s house in Park Ville Subd., Bgy. Silangan 1, past 6 p.m. Sunday when the two entered their house.
Minutes later, Yoldan said she heard the two quarreling over a man before they engaged in a fight. She said the fight stopped but there was silence, prompting her and her fellows to investigate.
She said that eventually saw the suspect, still holding a knife, and the victim lying on the floor.
The suspect suffered three stab wounds in the chest and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Balistero, an office staff, sustained two stab wounds in the left chest, abdomen and in her underarm and died while doctors were trying to revive her.
Bisnar said homicide investigators and a team from the Imus City Crime Laboratory were still investigating the incident.
