During the agency’s flag-raising ceremony in Quezon City, four PDEA Regional Offices and its Special Enforcement Service and Intelligence Service were given plaques of recognition by Lapeña for their significant anti-drug accomplishments since last July 1.
The PDEA Special Enforcement Service headed by Director Ismael Fajardo, Jr. was awarded for dismantling last July 22a shabu factory in Pinagbayanan Street, Barangay Lingunan, Valenzuela City which yielded nearly six kilograms of Epehdrine, 900 kilos of sodium hydroxide and 675 kilograms of titanium dioxide, all ingredients in the manufacture of shabu.
That operation which also led to the arrest of five Chinese nationals was conducted by the PDEA-SES with the support of the Philippine National Police Anti-Illegal Drugs Group headed by Senior Superintendent Albert Ignatius D. Ferro.
The PDEA Cordillera Regional Office headed by Director Juvenal Azurin was honored for its role in the destruction of an estimated P200 million worth of fully-grown marijuana plants and seedlings in Tinglayan, Kalinga from July 22-25. The marijuana eradication drive was conducted by the PDEA with the help of the Cordillera Police Regional Office headed by Chief Supt. Elmo Francis Sarona.
The PDEA Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao under Director Edgar Apalla was also cited for destroying an estimated P6 million worth of cannabis in Lanao del Sur last August 4.
On the other hand, the PDEA National Capital Region headed by Director Wilkins Villanueva was cited for confiscating around P107 million worth of shabu and arresting a Chinese drug manufacturer during a raid on a suspected drug laboratory in Jasmin Street, Hensonville, Malabañas, Angeles City last August 5.
Meanwhile, the PDEA Regional Office 7 under Director Ronald Allan Ricardo was commended for arresting a Chinese national who tried to smuggle over four kilograms of shabu worth P20 million at the Mactan International Airport in Cebu City last July 20.
The PDEA Intelligence and Investigation Service headed by Director Randy Pedroso was also honored for initiating the creation of Cybercrime Narcotics Investigation and Digital Forensic (CNIDF) Units within the Agency which will be responsible for the digital forensic extraction on electronic devices obtained by PDEA agents during its anti-drug operations.
“We strongly recognize the anti-drug accomplishments of PDEA and the valuable support given by our partner law enforcement agencies,” Lapeña said as he encouraged all PDEA Drug Enforcement Officers and their allies to further press the campaign against drugs without fear or favor.
