SUV in deadly hit-run incident recovered in QC

PASIG Police bared yesterday the sports utility vehicle (SUV) who was involved in the hit-and-run incident which killed two and injured three others including a pregnant woman was recovered in New Manila, Quezon City.

According to Senior Supt. Orlando Yebra Jr., the police earlier saw the SUV, a Forester Subaru (PQW 414) in the  footage of the video.
   
Based on footage installed, the dark colored SUV was cruising from East direction heading West to SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.
   
PO3 Edwin Cruz, investigator, identified the suspect as Baldwin John Velasco, 33, of New Manila, owner of a security agency.
   
Garcia said, an unborn child and a call center agent -- one Jake Arteta Santillas, 23, of Ibayo Tipas, Taguig City -- were killed in said accident.
   
Santillas died from severe head and body injuries after he was dragged by the SUV at least 300 meters away up to St, Francis Square in Mandaluyong City.
   
The three wounded victims identified as Mariel Rabina, of Bgy. Masambong, Quezon City, who is pregnant, Juan Carlo Villanueva, of Taguig and Micah Uy, of Pulilan, Bulacan, also call center agents, were  rushed to the Mandaluyong Medical Center.
   
Rabina was in serious condition after the baby on her womb died.
   
Garcia said the victims were walking along the pedestrian lane and tried to cross the street when they were hit by the speeding SUV at around 2:50 a.m. Sunday.
   
The driver of the SUV did not bother to stop and check the victims after the said accident.
