MANY prominent and rich Filipinos marry foreigners. The list includes the late Virgilio Hilario of Baguio City who won the heart of the first Miss Universe Armi Kuusela and was blessed with beautiful children.
Then, prominent businessman and sportsman, George Araneta swept another beauty queen from Brazil, Stella Marquez's feet. The late Makati Mayor Nemesio Yabut also married a foreigner, who became Mrs. Corine Yabut. The late Carlos P. Romulo, the first Filipino who became UN President, married Beth Day, an American. Even the famous late lawyer, Rene Cayetano, married an American, whose features are prominent in the Cayetano children, Allan Peter (now a senator) and Pia (also a senator).
Now, President Noynoy Aquino is said to be smitten by the charms of Korean-born Grace Lee, who is a Kapuso broadcast journalist. But some devil's advocates say they won't end up in marriage giving them three months, with six the most, to enjoy the relationship.
Well, we would be glad if P-Noy and Grace end up at the altar. At least, here’s a good chance for two countries, Korea and Philippines to bond together regardless of religion, political beliefs and aspirations.
It would be nice to see Grace Lee ending up like Jackie Bouvier, a former photographer at the Oval office in Washington, DC who married former U.S. President John F. Kennedy. (And did you know that Jackie O's real name was Jacqueline Lee Bouvier? Notice the Lee in her name.--Ed.)
MANNY STILL DOUBTED
MANY people are judgmental. They doubt what's boxing icon Manny Pacquiao is up to with his Bible studies. But have they ever experienced a life like he has?
Maybe at this point he has realized his past mistakes. Manny admits he has had bad habits but he feels it is time to reform. One good thing with him is he quit while quitting is timely.
Behind a man's success is a woman and definitely, it is wife Jinkee who stood by him through thick and thin. Now, Manny has realized that money may be the root of all evil, but it is also an instrument for him to do good, especially for the less fortunate.
And Manny uses his Saturday game show, “Manny Many Prizes” on GMA7 as a way to reach to the poor and the needy. How many people had benefited from the show since it started?
Manny will go on doing the show as long as he knows it will help people. So expect bigger prizes from Ninong Manny to make people more happy.
FANS LOVE REGINE
FANS don't care how their idol Regine Velasquez looks now after giving birth to Baby Nate. Kamukha man siya ni Mama Cass sa lapad, who cares? (Hope readers still remember who Mama Cass is, a member of the popular Mamas and the Papas of the 60s--Ed.) Their recent successful concert, Mr. and Mrs. at the Araneta can manifest to this.
Maybe, it also helped that Regine appeared on popular GMA shows like “Party Pilipinas,” “Eat Bulaga,” “Showbiz Central,” and even in husband Ogie Alcasid's number one gag show, “Bubble Gang.”
You really cannot put a good man (or woman) down, even if she's bigger than Ogie's mom now.
CONCLUSION OF FROZEN PLANET
THE last episode for Frozen Planet on GMA7's “Kap's Amazing Stories” hosted by Sen.
Don't miss “Kap’s Amazing Stories” on Sunday.
