WHAT MAKES BASIL UNFORGIVEABLE TO FANS
A LANDMARK production from Viva Concerts and Events is Seasons of Love.
Performing for the first time are Basil Valdez, Rachelle Ann Go and The Company. It will be held on February 13 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World, Manila.
Basil first made his mark as vocalist with the Circus Band in the 70s. To his credit is a long list of hits (Ngayon at Kailanman, Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan, Kastilyong Buhangin, Lift Up Your Hands, etc.) that have become popular standards.
Considered a living legend in the music field, Basil is forever grateful for the songs the late George Canseco exclusively wrote for him which he describes classics or “pinagtibay ng panahon”.
“Whenever I perform, on local shores or abroad, the audience will never forgive me kung hindi ko aawitin ang Ngayon at Kailanman which has become my signature song. It gives me so much joy whenever new singers give their versions of my hits. At lalo akong natutuwa whenever they say my songs inspires them.,” he reveals.
With Rachelle around, love songs will soar to new heights as she renders cuts from her latest CD Unbreakable.
The Company are advocates of OPM and among their hits are Muntik Na Kitang Minahal and Pakisabi Na Lang. They also scored big with their Lighthearted album series featuring foreign hits done Company style.
Pagdating ng Panahon in a capella version with Basil will be one of the highlights of Seasons of Love.
Call Viva Concerts 687-7236 or Ticketnet 911-5555 for inquiries and reservations.
NOTHING BEATS 'EAT BULAGA'
IT is always a sad sight whenever a show makes an exit specially when gloom registers on the faces of the hosts, as in the case of Happy Yipee Yehey.
A show has to go primarily because it has poor rating or not rating at all. There is also a claim that it is better to axe a show while the rating is high.
At any rate ABS-CBN can't seem to conceive a show fitted for a noontime slot that will have a staying power. What seems to be the problem, one asks. Maybe there is a need to scruntinize every detail from format to cast combination and kind of games they will feature.
And stop competing or even attempt to dislodge an institution like Eat Bulaga.
