GLAIZA De Castro is thankful that right after "Amaya" where her role was as Marian Rivera’s sister, GMA7 quickly gave her a follow-up project on primetime as the drummer-vocalist of Dennis Trillo’s band in “Biritera.”

“Enjoy ako sa role ko as band member dahil gusto ko talagang magbanda since high school,” she says. “This is like my role in ‘Rakenrol’ na na-enjoy ko ring gawin. I’m sure music lovers will love it kasi may kantahan and I’m happy na bukod sa ‘Party Pilipinas’, I also get to sing here. Maganda rin ang role ko. In the story, people will think I’m a tomboy, kasi one of the boys ako sa band namin, yun pala, I have secret feelings for Dennis. I’m excited to work with him again after ‘Gagambino’ and the indie film, ‘Astig’ na may love scene pa kami.

Napakahusay niya kasi and you have no choice kundi galingan mo rin.”


DERRICK: I STOPPED COURTING SARAH, BUT SHE DIDN'T TURN ME DOWN

DERRICK Monasterio took the lie detector test in “Showbiz Central’s” Don’t Lie to Me segment last Sunday to promote his new show “Alice Bungisngis and her Magic Walis” that will replace “Daldalita” starting Monday. First question to him: Nagkatampuhan nga ba kayo ni Sarah Lahbati kaya nag-lie low ka muna sa panliligaw sa kanya? He said no and it’s a lie. Derrick looks visibly nervous while explaining his answer. “Marami ako masyadong projects kaya tinigil ko muna ang panliligaw,” he said. “Never naman naging kami at hindi rin niya ako binasted.”

Nagbago ba ang pagtingin mo kay Sarah dahil daw kay Bea Binene? He said no and it’s true. He said they’re just being linked because they’re together in “Alice Bungisngis.”

Host John “Sweet” Lapus said so many girls have a crush on Derrick as he’s not only handsome but also talented as he acts and sings well.

John admitted he himself is smitten with Derrick. The impish Derrick, who doesn’t mind playing along with gays, said: “Okay lang po. Pag-aralin nyo lang po ako.” Later on, Sweet announced that so many fans in the Internet have expressed their approval for the Sweet-Derrick loveteam.


TJ FIRM MARRIAGE WON'T AFFECT HIS CAREER

THE highlight of “Showbiz Central” last Sunday was the interview with a Kapuso leading man who admitted “na nagpakasal na siya.” This turned out to be TJ Trinidad of “Kokak” who confessed that he married long time non-showbiz girl Margarita Valdez in Tagaytay recently.

When we visited the set of “Kokak” last Thursday, TJ refused to answer any questions about his wedding but he has obviously changed his mind about it. He said he and his wife are “both private individuals so we wanted to keep it intimate with only close friends and relatives invited. I also believe actors are more effective when people don’t know about their private lives.”

It was Raymond Gutierrez who interviewed him and TJ said he invited the Gutierrez clan (since Annabelle Rama is his manager), but it so happened their family was then vacationing in the States. He also invited Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez but they also didn’t make it.

What did she like in Marga? “She’s a classic breed of beauty and breeding. She makes me laugh with her good sense of humor.” He added his wife is highly educated, having studied in the American University in Paris (where KC Concepcion also got her college degree) and has a master’s degree in economics.  He said their wedding was very simple and they didn’t even have a wedding coordinator. “It was only Marga, his sister Bea and their mom who handled the whole thing,” he said.        

He thinks his being married won’t affect his career. “Viewers now are more intelligent,” he added.


RAYMOND WANTS TO BE A 'DEAD' ACTOR

RAYMOND Guitierrez is changing his wardrobe after losing weight. “I lost 7 inches in my waistline kaya sobrang luwag na ang dati kong pants,” he says at his contract-signing with Viva for future endorsements along with siblings Ruffa and Richard. “Sayang nga, mahal pa naman ang mga dating damit kong di ko na maisuot ngayon.”

So how does it feel to be thinner? “Magaan ang pakiramdam,” he laughs.

Did he feel bad then when people would say he’s so “taba”? “A bit, but I’ve always had self confidence so kahit marami akong haters noon and people would make me lait in Twitter, I really didn’t care. I lost weight not for them but for myself. Alam ko namang overweight na ko but it’s Dra. Vicki Belo and her daughter Cristalle who helped me realize na I really should lose weight for my own health. They got me a nutritionist who created the perfect menu for me. Tapos 'yung Sexy Solutions na non-invasive of getting rid of stubborn fats.”

Her mom Annabelle Rama wants him to also try acting since he was a good child actor. “Noon yun, bata pa ko. Hindi na ngayon. My mom wants me to be an actor para may bago siyang komisyon. But I hate the hours of waiting on the set kaya kay Chard na lang ang acting. If ever I’d do a movie, gusto ko, horror para papatayin ako agad.”


FIRST EVICTION NIGHT FOR TOP 14

IT was an eventful weekend for "PBB Unlimited." Saturday night was the first eviction night for the top 14 finalists and the first one to be eliminated was Joya Genzola, 25, the nurse from Negros Occidental.

Sunday night, it was a case of forced eviction for Jessica Connelly, 19,  the balikbayan from Wollongong, Australia tagged as Pinay Snow White ng Taguig.

Before the announcement of Joya’s elimination. Kuya announced that the housemates lost in their Kontra Battle Ratahuli task as they all failed to catch any of the rats assigned to them. Kuya berated them for not taking their task seriously, especially Tin and Kevin who were the leaders of the two teams then. The housemates were properly remorseful. Paco said, “Nagalit si Kuya. Katakot.”

The wish of the ousted housemates that Wendy and Carlo be booted out was not granted by the public who favor good looking housemates. Joya got a very low text vote of only 7.3% while Carlo and Wendy got 12 and 16% each. Among the four nominees, it’s Divine who’s the highest pointer as 64.47% voted to save her.

Sunday night, Jessica confessed to Kuya that she feels she’s the one who should have been evicted. “I don’t know what’s happening to me,” she said. “I feel I need to breathe. I don’t know how this started but gusto ko nang umuwi.”

Kuya granted her wish and she was quickly sent home that very same night, after giving her a piece of his mind for being a quitter.

Honestly, we think Jessica, one of the best looking housemates who also sings well, joined PBB not to win but just to gain exposure as she really wants to be a singer. Actually, most of them, joined PBB as a passport to join showbiz hoping to be the next Sam Milby, Melay or Kim Chiu, and not be subjected through the “kadiri” tasks Kuya assigns to them, like catching mice. Yuck. As Jessica said, she painted an X on Wendy’s picture (an instruction given to her by Kuya) so Wendy can also go out “kasi gusto niya talaga maging artista.”


STILL HOT AT 33

SHE may be 33 but Jessa Zaragoza still looks as hot as when she zoomed to fame singing “Bakit Pa.” “Kahit mother role ang ginagampanan niya sa ‘Kokak,’ ” says Director Ricky Davao, “pag eksena niya, pinapanood pa rin siya ng buong crew kasi sexy pa rin ang appeal niya.”

Jessa enjoyed playing Sarah Lahbati’s mom in “Kokak,”  but after it ends next month, she wants to rest for a while. “Nakakapagod kasi to do a soap. I will focus muna in promoting my new album, ‘Pag Wala na Ang Ulan’. Balik ako rito with Vehnee Saturno, who did ‘Bakit Pa’ for me before. It has six songs na potential hits. Pinoy na Pinoy ang tunog at tema, to be released by GMA Records. After the launch, I’ll have a concert sa Brisbane and Melbourne, Australia from February 21 to 27. Then Dingdong (Avanzado, her husband) and I will return to the U.S. para ayusin ang green card namin. When we come back here in March, si Dingdong naman ang maglo-launch ng new album niya with Viva Records. We’ll be in the U.S. when we celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary on March 18. Yes, ten years na kami and still going strong kahit iniintriga kami.”

She was black and blue when we visited her on the set of “Kokak.”  “Ginulpi kasi ako ni Gian Magdangal, who plays Norman, my husband.

Viewers would think napakabait niya but it turns out he’s psychotic.

Siya rin pala ang pumatay sa first wife niya dahil sa sobrang selos and now, I’m a battered wife dahil sa pagseselos niya kay Gary Estrada. He can be very violent pala.”
