BY now, alam na nating lahat that Joel Torre was offered a role in the Hollywood movie currently being filmed sa Pilipinas, Bourne Legacy, but at the last minute was dropped  dahil mas bumagay sa role si John Arcilla bilang isang security guard.

Pero okey lang kay Joel kahit hindi sa kanya napunta ang role dahil alam niyang mas bagay talaga ito kay John na Pilipino talaga ang itsura. Si Joel kasi, may pagka-mestizo.

Pero may kasabihan na kapag ’di napunta sa iyo ang isang bagay gaano man ito minimithi, somehow may replacement na darating.

And a replacement, indeed, in the same movie, came his way when he was again asked to report only to be offered with another role, although more brief than the one given to John, pero just the same, sa Hollywood project din. And for Joel ang mapabilang sa cast ng isang Hollywood movie is in itself an accomplishment na.

Truly one of the best performers we have, Joel has had the chance na makalabas na sa ilang Hollywood movies. And always, he gained, according to him, acting experiences which he finds worthy na masasabi.

Isa sa hindi nababakanteng ‘support’ in most series and movies si Joel. He is currently in the cast of the starstudded teleserye Walang Hanggan where he pits talents with the likes of Susan Roces, Helen Gamboa, Richard Gomez, Dawn Zulueta at Coco Martin.

Did you know that Joel Torre started his showbiz career merely as a replacement to Albert Martinez?

Well, ganito ang kuwento. Filming of the most memorable finest local movies ever produced, Oro, Plata, Mata, was about to start and they were eyeing then newcomer Albert Martinez to do one of the top roles.

But Albert had to turn down the offer dahil kapipirma pa lamang niya noon ng build-up contract with Regal Films.

Direk Peque Gallaga, who was to direct the movie, produced by Experimental Cinema of the Philippines, of course, felt disappointed, as he thought, Albert was perfect for the role.

But he had to move on. Look for another young actor who can replace Albert.

That was when Joel came to Direk Peque’s mind. He was his student in filmmaking at the Dela Salle University in Bocolod. And he was with him for the film as member of his production staff.

Suffie to say that Direk Peque had Joel called. He immediately told him of his predicament. Would Joel be willing to submit to a screen test. And if he passes his screen test, he will have him replaced Albert in the movie.

The rest, as we can all safely say now, is history.

Of Direk Peque, who has retired as a film director, is reportedly back teaching filmmaking in the same university.

Now it can be told that Carmina Villaroel daw will not mind interviewing former husband Rustum Padilla, who is now much a mujer like her, in the upcoming show with Janice de Belen, Joey Marquez at Ogie Diaz.

The new showbiz talk program will reportedly be titled Showbiz Inside Report kaya mga inside kuwento ito among actors and actresses, past and present man.

Si Rustom, aminin natin, kahit matagal-tagal na ring nawala sa entertainment world, is still an interesting showbiz personality, dala nga ng ginawa niyang discovery at pagbabago sa sarili.

As BB Gandanghari, he/she is reportedly doing well sa kanyang modeling career, specifically in New York.

Carmina, on the other hand, is in a happy relationship with actor-tv host Zoren Legaspi. The couple are blessed with twin kinds Cassey and Mavey, now 11 years old.

Did we also hear that Zoren will not mind as well na magkaroon ng “encounter” between Carmina and Zoren.
