OBVIOUSLY, Lovi Poe still has feelings for Ronald Singson. Without her manager Leo Dominguez knowing it, she went with Ronald to Cebu last Saturday aboard Gov. Chavit Singson’s private plane so they can be together again. When she returned here on Sunday, she didn’t show up on “Party Pilipinas,” saying she’s not feeling well, making one writer quip: “Pinagod siguro ni Ronald sa Cebu.”
It’s common knowledge Lovi’s acting career flourished while Ronald was jailed in Hong Kong. She did four hit movies: “My Valentine Girls,” “Temptation Island,” “My Neighbor’s Wife” and “Aswang.” And now, she’s in a big lavish soap, “Legacy.” She said then she’ll be focusing on her career entirely. But now that Ronald is back, could it be that she has changed her mind?
IZA LEAVES GMA7
IZA Calzado has officially left GMA7 and signed up with ABS-CBN yesterday. This was confirmed to us by her manager, Noel Ferrer, at the press preview of the indie film,”Bola,” in UP.
“After ‘Beauty Queen’, wala naman kasing project for her,” he says. “Buti nga napalitan niya si Regine Velasquez as ‘I Heart U Pare’. Nagkaroon siya ng ‘Andres de Saya’ but sandali lang. Ang hosting niya sa ‘Eat Bulaga’, sa TAPE naman yun and they were so nice to her kaya it really pains her to leave it. Sa ABS-CBN, she’ll be hosting ‘The Biggest Loser’, na bagay talaga sa kanya dahil siya yun. She really used to be so fat tapos pumayat. She is also guaranteed to do two soaps a year. Kasama rin ang movies sa Star Cinema and her first one will be the reunion movie of John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo.”
BEA, TJ IN QUIET WEDDINGS
ASIDE from the wedding of TV5 host Shalani Soledad to Cong. Roman Romulo last Sunday at Westgrove, two other showbiz people got married this January quietly.
First was PBB Season 2 winner and supporting actress (she supported Kim Chiu in “Binondo Girl” and Maja Salvador in “My Cactus Heart”) Bea Saw who walked down the aisle with her non-showbiz boyfriend. Then there’s actor TJ Trinidad who’s now seen as Sarah Lahbati’s leading man in GMA7’s “Kokak.” He married his long time sweetheart Marga Valdez in a very private and quiet wedding ceremony.
To the newlyweds, our congratulations and best wishes. Remember, the wedding is just the start. The actual marriage follows and that’s what really counts.
NOT CLOSING DOORS ON POLITICS
CHRIS Tiu denies the rumor that he’s leaving GMA-7 to move to TV5. “The fact that I have a new show with them, ‘iBilib’, that starts airing this Sunday after ‘Kap’s Amazing Stories’, is enough proof siguro na hindi ako lilipat,” he says.
Another rumor about Chris is that he’s joining politics. “I was offered to run for public office, but it’s not really for me as our family was never into politics and we’re more into business. But I’m not closing my doors. I’m an idealist and sometimes, you should do what you think is right, lalo na’t mahal ko ang Pilipinas and I want to improve ang kalagayan ng bansa natin. If it’s time for me to discern, I will pray to God to guide me and help me decide on it. I have no plans of joining politics but if He’d be the one to say it’s my calling, then it’s my duty as the son of God to obey Him.”
His new show, “iBilib” is an infotainment program about bizarre and incredible happenings in the world of science, making it a perfect combination with “Kap’s Amazing Stories.” He’s co-hosting it with Isabelle Daza and the comic duo of Moymoy Palaboy. It features scientific experiments as seen in Japan’s “Wonders of Horus,” with all the acts performed without any camera tricks.
“It’s very educational as we have actual demos, like viewers will see how to walk on water without getting your feet wet,” he says. Then Sarah Lahbati in “Kokak” must watch this so that she can avoid turning into a frog each time her feet get wet. Step-by-step instructions following each episode will be posted on the iBILIB webpage at www.gmanetwork.com.
TRUTH ABOUT RAYMOND REVEALED
RAYMOND Guiterrez turned 28 on January 21 (along with twin brother Richard who’s still vacationing in L.A.) and he had a special birthday presentation in “Party Pilipinas” and “Showbiz Central”. Raymond has a reason to celebrate as he has lost 30 to 40 lbs. and now has a billboard endorsing Dr. Vicki Belo’s Sexy Solutions.
Cristalle Henares (daughter of Dr. Vicki) says Raymond has a holistic approach in losing weight. He did not only take advantage of their Sexy Solutions (a non invasive way of getting rid of stubborn fats – “para kang pinaplantsa”, says Raymond) but he also went on strict diet and exercise. He did boxing regularly and also worked out in a gym.
Several people paid tribute to Raymond. Director Carlo Caparas and producer Donna Villa of Golden Lions, who introduced him and Richard in their first movies as child actors), said he has always been a very good actor. His own mom Annabelle Rama revealed that he’s the one who really wanted to be an actor. “Si Richard, tamad umarte kaya dumodobol si Raymond sa kanya.”
His dad Eddie Gutierrez said Raymond has always been a diligent student and never gave them any problems while he was in school. Esquire Mag editor in chief Erwin Romulo praised him for being very professional and organized as their fashion editor and said even their bosses in New York commend him. Other friends who greeted him on cam were Georgina Wilson, Solenn Heussaff, Liz Uy, and her own sister Ruffa G. But the cutest ones were his nieces Lorin and Venice who said they’re so proud of him now that he lost weight.
YNEZ DECEIVES PUBLIC
YNEZ Veneracion admits, now that “Munting Heredera” is ending, that she gave birth to a baby girl who’s now 11 months old. She won’t name the dad but it’s easy to figure out its Maguindanao Gov. Ismael Mangudadatu who she met when she campaigned for him in the 2010 elections. It’s common knowledge he visits her on the set of “Munting Heredera” and we even saw him once when we visited the taping at the old house of LVN Pictures’ Donya Sisang in New Manila. She told us then they no longer have a relationship but they remain friendly to each other.
“I didn’t go out of the house much while I was pregnant kaya walang nakaalam na buntis ako,” she said at the thanksgiving dinner of “Munting Heredera.” “When I started taping for the show, kapapanganak ko pa lang. Pero hindi halata, ano? Ang sarap pala talaga maging ina. Iba ang feeling. May kakaibang fulfilment kang mararamdaman.”
She became more familiar to the public because of her role as Claire in “Munting Heredera.” “Originally, dapat, tatlong buwan lang ang itatagal ng character ko. Pero dahil nag-click, heto, humaba ng humaba at kasama ako hanggang ending. Thank God. Nakakalungkot nga kasi at home na ako sa GMA at sa mga kasama ko rito. Iniisip ko lang na hindi na kami magkikita-kita nina Camille Prats sa taping, naiiyak na ako.”
