DE LA Salle Zobel retained its midgets crowns and added the junior basketball title as it ended the first semester with four titles in the 42nd WNCAA tournament at the St. Scholastica gym over the weekend.

Other winners  were host Rizal Technological University (senior volleyball), Centro Escolar University (senior basketball) and Miriam College (junior volleyball).

DLSZ kept its midgets cage title with a 47-19 win over Miriam in their winner-take-all series.  In midgets volleyball, the Alabang-based squad completed its two-game sweep of St. Scholastica's College after a 27-25, 14-25, 25-15 Game Two triumph. 

A third championship came in junior basketball as DLSZ stopped St. Jude Catholic School, 62-41, to also post a 2-0 decision.  Two weeks ago, DLSZ copped its fourth straight junior futsal plum.

RTU tossers plucked the seniors title after holding off San Beda College Alabang, 25-11, 20-25, 25-17, 25-14 while the CEU five upended RTU, 82-48.  Both RTU and CEU ended their campaigns undefeated.

Miriam, meanwhile, capped its amazing comeback with an 18-25, 25-18, 25-15, 15-25, 16-14 victory over  San Beda for a 2-1 series win.  All three matches went into five sets.

The league being supported by Mikasa, Molten, Goody, MJC Press and AGR Xperts Corporation will resume in January 2012 with the badminton, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis and swimming events.  The cheerleading competition will be held in February.
