Martin: Anything but Justin Bieber

TWO icons in the music industry will collaborate for the first time in what is considered a landmark production for Viva Concerts and Events.

The rare event entitled  “All For One” will showcase the unmatched talents of Martin Nievera and Side A band.

For Martin, this is a fulfillment of a long-time dream.

“I have always wanted to be a part of a band. Every singer dreams of this. I have always looked up to Side A since I was a kid. (He was kidding, but of course.--Ed.) Bands will come and go but they will  be there. There is something about their music that the old generation will pass it on to new breed of audience. I don't want to miss this rare opportunity of jamming with them. But why only now? Put the blame on our hectic schedules. The band was always traveling. What is important, it is finally happening. I don't treat it as a career breaker. The venue will not be a problem whether we are performing in  smoky bar somewhere. It is not about how big or small the paycheck is. It is about sharing and bonding our music as one.”

Fans who will watch “All For One” on November 11 at the Araneta Coliseum will be treated to an evening of memorable songs both artists have popularized.

Expect   the famous band to dish out current songs Side A style.

And Martin?  “I will sing anything but Justin Bieber,” the balladeer exclaims.

MEGA CELEBRATION FOR VIVA

VIVA'S 30th celebration continues with another mega concert scheduled on February 11, 2012. Fittingly titled “Once In A Lifetime,”  it marks the first team-up of Martin Nievera and megastar Sharon Cuneta at the Big Dome.

Also in the line-up is the OPM powerhouse trio of Kuh Ledesma, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Basil Valdez.

SYMPATHY VOTES

SYMPATHY votes cannot be avoided whenever a handicapped contestant enters a competition. Like what happened in “Talentadong Pinoy” in last Sunday's episode. Judge (or what they call talent scout) Joey Reyes calls contestant Kyla a brave girl because she did not allow her physical defect to get in the way of her joining the tilt. The three talent scouts gave her a very high score save for one who gave Kyla a very low grade of 79.

Talent not pity prevailed when the final votes from the jurors were tallied.
