Ampatuan son asks QC court to junk slay raps

ONE of the sons of former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Governor Andal Ampatuan Sr. yesterday asked a Quezon City court to dismiss the multiple murder case filed against him in connection with the Maguindanao massacre due to lack of factual and legal basis.

Accused Datu Sajid Islam Ampatuan, through his legal counsels Paris Real, Emmanuel Bratarlo and Sherwin Real, filed the omnibus motion to dismiss and/or to quash information for lack of jurisdiction and to subpoena Kenny Dalandag before the sala of QC Regional Trial Court Branch 221 Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes.

In his motion, the accused said the cases of 57 counts of murder against him should be dismissed for lack of evidence to indict him for any crime resulting in lack of jurisdiction on the part of the court to prosecute him.    Cory Martinez
