Vic defends director

IT doesn't need five writers to come out with a movie title like “Pak Pak My Dr. Kwak.” Even a child could come out with one.

But wait. Corny titles as well as the corniest commercials have an easy recall and believe it or not, most of them turn out to be winners at the box-office.

Shall we go deeper into the movie story which marks the first team-up of Vic Sotto and  Bea Alonso? Child actor Zaijian Jaranilla plays a mischievous angel named Angelito sent to earth with a special mission to convince Angelo (Vic Sotto), a fake healer, to mend his ways.

Enter Cielo (Bea Alonzo), an intern doctor who hates Angelo so much because the family-owned pharmacy has gone bankrupt since Angelo started his “faith healing” business.

Of course, they’d be fighting at the start, but in the end, you know who’d end up with who. Go figure out.

Anyway, angels have wings and there are quack doctors, right? Hence, the title. A far cry from the last offering of Star Cinema. Let’s see which comes out better at the box-office.

“Pak Pak”  is directed by Tony Reyes, the only director Bossing Vic is known to have worked with.

Would he not want to be handled by somebody else?  It is like eating the same food everyday. Baka magsawa ka rin.

“Why rock the boat when everything is smooth sailing?” says Vic. “We are comfortable with each other at sa isang artistang tulad ko, mahalaga ito. Okey naman ang nagiging resulta ng pelikula sa takilya, ano pa ang pwede kong hilingin?”

WHAT DOES ‘TUM’ STAND FOR?

LET’S play a word game. What does TUM stands for?

Would it mean TUMabo, TUMaob or  TUMabla sa takilya?

The movie, “TUM, My Pledge of Love”  stars real couple Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez in probably their first and last team-up. It has been rated B by the Evaluation Board. Simply put, it is above the ordinary and is entitled to a rebate.

Somehow, we don’t know if such rebate could cover up for the big budget they’ve spent for the movie.

FRANCINE DENIES ROMANCE WITH BOBBY

BOBBY Yan and Francine Prieto are the hosts of DzMM's midnight show, “Ka Date.” The teleradyo show has a big following (mostly insomniacs) who are eager to know  whether they are more than friends.

Pointblack, Francine replied , “No, we are not.”

Better than hearing her remark “we are just friends” which is already a cliché.

But those who see them together outside of the radio booth say they act like they are an item. May sabit ba ang isa sa kanila?

Well, this column is open to Bobby and Francine.
