NATHALIE Hart is very glad to do her first movie with Star Cinema, "Sin Island". She started in showbiz using her real name, Princess Snell, as part of Star Magic Batch 16 in 2008. The next year, she joined Starstruck 5 and qualified as one of the Final 14. But her acting career wasn’t really going anywhere and she even joined Survivor Philippines, but failed to survive it.
She then left GMA7 and became a talent of Leo Dominguez, who gave her a new screen name, Nathalie Hart. She played supporting roles in several movies with Regal then played the lead role in BG Productions’ sexy drama, “Siphayo”, for which she did a full frontal nudity scene and won an acting award in New York. She also had such sexy scenes with JC de Vera and Joel Torre in Cinema One’s “Tisay”.
Now she goes back to ABS-CBN as part of a love triangle in Star Cinema’s explosive sex-drama, “Sin Island”, where she plays Tasha, the other woman of Xian Lim who’s married to Coleen Garcia as Kanika. Once again, she does a lot of baring in her love scenes with Xian as David. Is she now more at home doing such daring scenes?
“You know, doing such scenes is never easy,” she says. “Sa ‘Siphayo’ noon, naging hysterical talaga ako but I still did it kasi committed ako sa project. Akala nyo ba madaling maghubad? It’s really a struggle to do baring scenes and sumasama ang mood ko lagi at ayokong makipag-usap kahit kanino after doing it. Ang daling sabihing trabaho lang 'yan, but still nakakasama pa rin ng loob. I just console myself by saying na, at least, may maipapakita naman ako.”
So why is she doing such scenes if she’s not really happy with them? “Well, you have to start somewhere, di ba? Dito ko nabigyan ng lead roles, e. But I don’t intend to do it forever. Gusto ko lang siyang gamiting stepping stone but I want to really grow as an actress na rerespetuhin ng tao dahil sa talent niya. Gusto kong makita nila that I have more to offer than just my body. Dito sa ‘Sin Island’, maganda 'yung role ko, but very dark, kasi nagkaroon ng twist. Of course, hindi ko puwedeng i-reveal kung ano kasi spoiler na 'yun. Basta I want to assure the viewers na kapag pinanood nila ito, hindi 'yung paghuhubad ko lang ang mapapansin nila kundi 'yun ding intensity ng acting ko lalo na towards the end of the movie na big surprise talaga kung ano ang mangyayari sa lahat ng characters.”
Star Cinema must really like her as she's now doing another new movie for them, a yet untitled love drama where she's paired with the comebacking Diether Ocampo.
JANELLA, ELMO INSIST THEY'RE NOT COMMITTED TO EACH OTHER YET
JANELLA Salvador and Elmo Magalona are inseparable these days because they’re so busy promoting their Valentine movie together, “A Fairy Tail Love Story”, that opens in theaters today. They’re doing mall shows even in the provinces and they were just mobbed at Subic where unruly fans unintentionally hurt them as they were going out of the mall.
All these experiences no doubt bring them closer to one another but the claim that they’re still not formally committed to each other. “We’re still trying to get to know each other better,” says Janella. “We can wait a bit longer.”
“She doesn’t want to rush things but she knows she’s very special for me,” says Elmo. “We’ve travelled together doing shows in the U.S., Japan and Canada for ‘ASAP’ and there’s really nothing like travelling together para mas makilala nyo ang isa’t isa.”
Shooting “My Fairy Tail Love Story” will always be memorable for them. “The best 'yung underwater scenes namin nung mermaid na ako as Chantel, a spoiled brat na isinumpa kaya naging sirena. I have to undergo special training in swimming and diving for this movie and Elmo is always there para alalayan ako,” says Janella.
“It’s unforgettable kasi, at one point, it became really scary when my oxygen tank wouldn’t work while we were in the deep. At kundi ako nabigyan ng bagong tank right away, baka wala na ako ngayon dito sa mundo,” says Elmo. “I was really terrified but I have to show na professional ako kasi we can’t stop the shooting underwater at magastos, so itinuloy pa rin namin. I just had to trust that everybody will be there for me. Pinaghirapan namin talaga ang movie na ito and we assure the viewers they will have a great time, lalo na 'yung mga magde-date sa Valentine’s Day.”
BAD GUY ROLE BIG CHALLENGE FOR MARTIN
MARTIN Del Rosario plays a villain role in the new GMA afternoon soap, “Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka”, that will replace “Haplos” starting February 26. He plays Lawrence, the college friend of Yasmien Kurdi as Thea who has a secret admiration for her. He drugs her then rapes her, without knowing that he is afflicted with HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) and he unknowingly transfers the disease to her. When Yasmien confronts him about this later, he is in denial and won’t admit he’s the culprit in giving her the deadly virus.
“Usually, mabait ang roles ko so very challenging for me to play this kind of bad guy role,” says Martin. “Later, the disease will affect me physically and, unlike Thea na nilalabanan 'yung sakit, ako, I will deteriorate physically so nagpapapayat talaga ako parang maging credible sa role ko.”
Martin is really so busy these days as he’s doing two other regular shows. For Cignal TV, he is doing the role of Barbs in “Born Beautiful”, for which he has to shave all the hair on his body to be credible in his role as a transgender. He’s also in the environmental series produced by a Japanese company, “Unbroken Hearts”, with Janine Gutierrez, shot on the beaches of Zambales.
